Job Summary 

Under direct supervision, performs highly structured entry work designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill needed to be tasked with higher level assignments, and the issues or problems are readily observable conditions.  Assignments involve providing legal support services, which facilitates the work of the legal staff of the assigned office. The Work is straightforward and is not controversial.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Conducts basic research and studies in order to summarize legal authorities.

Collects, compiles, and organizes various data for use in reports and documentation.

Investigates information relating to cases and presents fact findings to legal staff.

Maintains legal records or legal reference materials, case files and correspondence.

Core Competencies  

Knowledge of the basic legal principles and concepts.

Knowledge of the basic principles, concepts, and methods of legal research and analysis.

Ability to write clear, concise, well-organized, and thorough case-related documents.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements

Job Summary 

Under general supervision, provides comprehensive legal support services, which facilitate the work of the legal staff.  Conducts extensive and thorough legal research into and analyses of legislative history and precedent cases, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to legal matters. The work involves legal research; drafting of legal and business communications; and analyzing the legal impact of legislative development and judicial decisions, opinions, determinations, and ruling.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Conducts legal research and studies into precedents relevant to cases under consideration.  

Reviews case files, studies of pleadings, testimony, exhibits, hearing records and briefs pertinent to assignments.

Investigates the facts of cases; and presents fact findings to senior staff personnel.  

Examines and evaluates information in case files for case litigation worthiness, and appropriate titles of law.   

Develops and justifies recommendations for action on legal issues; and develops statistics to provide leads and supportive data.

Drafts and edits memoranda, correspondence and research reports relating to cases.

Core Competencies  

Knowledge of the principles, theories, concepts, and methods of legal research and analysis.

Knowledge of legal reference materials and research methods.

Skill in analyzing issues and facts for writing drafts and decisions.

Ability to communicate research findings both orally and in writing.

Job Summary 

Under limited supervision, provides advanced legal support services, which facilitates the work of the legal staff of the assigned office.  Assignments are complex, which involves conducting of in-depth legal research into and analyses of legislative history and precedent cases, decisions, and opinions that may be applicable to legal matters.  The work involves comprehensive legal research; drafting of legal and business communications; and analyzing the legal impact of legislative development and judicial decisions, opinions, determinations and ruling.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Performs extensive legal research; and reviews, analyzes and organizes facts and evidence.  

Determines the specific data needed for legal cases, and the best approach to obtain this data or information.  

Reviews case files, studies of pleadings, testimony, exhibits, hearing records, contents of reports and procedural, and briefs of counsel.  

Investigates and becomes thoroughly familiar with subject matter details involved in a case or legal matter.   

Drafts response to motions filed by counsel to be issued by the appropriate legal authority.  

Advises appropriate personnel on the possible dispositions of matters based on aforesaid review.

Core Competencies  

Thorough knowledge of the pertinent laws, regulations, legal principles and concepts.  

Thorough knowledge of legal reference materials, and legal terminology.

Demonstrated skills in analyzing issues and facts; and extensive skill in research methods.  

Ability to communicate research findings both orally and in writing.
