Job Summary
Under direct supervision, provides day-to-day direct supervision and active positive engagement to ensure the safety and security of youth in custody is consistent with public safety. As part of a multidisciplinary team, places special emphasis on interacting with troubled youth in a manner consistent with the principles of positive youth development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts security checks of staff, visitors and youth including searches of persons and common areas for weapons and contraband. Ensures the safety and security of all persons.
Monitors youth in various areas to ensure their safety and the safety of others and to ensure they remain in custody. Utilizes agency behavior management techniques to manage crisis situations.
Makes periodic inspections of housing unit, locks, windows, doors, gates, furniture, fixtures, and other items that can be used to potentially escape from the facility or cause self-harm.
Orients youth to the rules and regulations of the organization and contributes to their positive growth and development.
Engages youth in positive activities, counsels youth as needed and assists with group counseling.

Knowledge of positive methods for supervising and engaging youth and knowledge of adolescent development and strategies in working with troubled youth.
Knowledge of all units and facility operations, policies, procedures, and protocols.
Knowledge of youth development and juvenile rehabilitation. Skill in communicating effectively with youth and their families and providing guidance.
Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements
Valid Driver’s License.

Job Summary

Major Duties and Responsibilities
Escorts youth offenders to court, medical and dental appointments, home assessments schools, and other correctional facilities. Maintains custody of youth in court buildings and proceedings.
Participates in individual and group counseling sessions with the youth and their families. Participates in treatment team meetings, and youth family team meetings.
Conducts security checks of staff, visitors and youth including searches of persons and common areas for weapons and contraband.
Conducts accurate counts of youth in designated areas, monitors youth offenders in the assigned area.
Maintains log book, and documents and reports various incidents that take place in the facility and submits the report to management.

Job Summary
Under broad supervision, provides day-to-day direct supervision and active positive engagement of youth to ensure the safety and security of youth in custody is consistent with public safety. As an integral part of a multidisciplinary team, places special emphasis on interacting with troubled youth consistent with the principles of positive youth development.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts individual and group counseling sessions with the youth and their families. Assists with implementing youth treatment programs. Participates in treatment team meetings, and youth family team meetings.
Coordinates activities of lower grade Youth Development Representatives (YDR) and handles escalated issues. Advises other Youth Development Representatives on complex, sensitive or unusual situations.
Provides surveillance and control of youth assigned to the work squad. Prevents escapes and assists with youth abscondence from the facility.
Assists with the apprehension of absconded youth whose community status has been revoked.
Ensures compliance with all safety and control policies and maintains control of assigned security equipment (e.g., restraints, radios and keys).
Provides ongoing feedback and training to lower grade YDRs. Makes recommendations on approving service delivery.
