Job Summary
Under direct supervision, performs highly structured work designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill needed to be tasked with higher level assignments, and the issues or problems are readily observable conditions. Typical assignments involve performing work relating to environmental protection program(s) and activities, which entails securing inspections data; evaluating data according to established criteria; and solving technical problems by applying specific related steps and methods.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Participates in the implementation of sampling and analysis plans. Collects and analyzes environmental data and information.
Retrieves information on regulations, legislation, modeling, technology, etc., from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and other information sources.
Participates in the development of standard operating procedures (SOP) and quality assurance manuals.
Creates and maintains databases and records relating to findings, conclusions, and decisions.
Prepares letters, memoranda, graphs, charts and other technical documents, as required.
Core Competencies
Practical knowledge and understanding of the principles, concepts, practices, methods and techniques of environmental protection.
Knowledge of, and skill in applying analytical and evaluative methods and techniques.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Computer Skills with personal computers and software.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, assignments are quite varied, and contain moderately complex features where issues and facts to be considered require considerable judgment in the approach, methodology and/or interpretation. Typically, performs work that involves the planning, developing and implementing an inspectional, sampling, investigatory and enforcement programs to protect the environment from the adverse effects of pollution.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Provides evaluation of findings to determine the existence and extent of environmental hazards.
Performs administrative, enforcement, or program work relating to environmental protection and natural resource conservation programs.
Reviews and provides advice on site assessments and corrective action plans for contaminated sites.
Identifies deficiencies in information or interpretation, and seeks additional information, clarification and corrections.
Participates in developing and revising plans and control techniques to deal with environmental hazards.
Reviews environmental policies, regulations, guidelines, procedures and forms.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of the principles, concepts, practices, methods, and techniques related to the assigned environmental and/or natural resource programs.
Knowledge of District and federal environmental and natural resource laws and regulations, documentation and reporting requirements.
Ability to evaluate and analyze facts and data concerning natural resources or environmental quality in on-site inspections and analysis of results.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
