Job Summary
Under direct supervision, works at the entry level within the job progression for Emergency Planning Specialist with emphasis on updating and maintenance of varies disaster plans and programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Updates and maintains disaster plans annually.
Participates with the coordination of information collection, display analysis and distribution.
Develops and maintains an inventory of resources for potential use in major disaster operations.
Assists in coordinating a capability to respond to a variety of natural and/or man-made disasters.
Meets with community, District, Federal, and the private sector community to elicit information such as, required, staffing equipment needs, street closures, safety considerations, etc.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of disaster preparedness planning programs.
Ability to assess disaster plans and provide analysis and updates to guidelines, processes and procedures as required.
Ability to communicate ideas accurately in writing and speaking in public forums.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, works at the intermediate level within the job progression for Emergency Planning Specialist with emphasis on updating and maintenance of varies disaster plans and programs.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Conducts analysis and identifies disaster planning contingencies to promote effective courses of action before, during and after emergencies and catastrophic disasters occur.
Develops and maintains an inventory of resources (e.g. personnel, equipment, etc.) for potential use in catastrophic incident operations.
Reviews and updates District plans and procedures supporting disaster preparedness, response, recovery and mitigation for all hazards.
Develops and submits a weekly project status report of programmatic activity to supervisor.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of governmental laws, regulations and the agency's policies and procedures on emergency planning and response programs.
Knowledge of and skill in the application of analytical and evaluative theories, concepts, procedures, methods, standards and practices to the interpretation of policy.
Ability to communicate ideas, accurately, verbally and in writing.

Job Summary
Under limited supervision, works at the full performance level within the job progression for Emergency Planning Specialist with emphasis on developing, maintaining, and revising various disaster plans and procedures.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Develops a variety of emergency management plans and procedures with the District, Federal, private sector entities, and other officials.
Designs and administers emergency/disaster planning training courses; and develops and implements scenarios and planning references supporting disaster exercises.
Conducts analysis, and identifies disaster planning contingencies to promote effective courses of actions before, during and after emergencies and catastrophic disasters occur.
Communicates with relevant District and Federal agencies, and private sector entities to monitor, review and evaluate the effectiveness and efficiency of implemented policies and procedures.
Core Competencies
Thorough knowledge of District government and US Department of Homeland Security, Federal Emergency Management Agency structures, and external resources.
Thorough knowledge of laws, regulations, policies and procedures regarding mitigation planning, response and recovery programs.
Thorough analytical skills, to perform broad and complex research tasks in a variety of program areas under short deadlines, and to plan, evaluate, develop and conduct studies.
