Job Summary
Under direct supervision, performs a limited range of toxicological analyses in biological specimens in order to determine the cause and manner of death or physiological impairment. Applies an understanding of forensic science to assigned duties; and to makes on-the-job decisions based on pre-established methodologies.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Performs analysis of biological specimens to detect drug or alcohol content.
Engages in measuring routine compounds in a qualitative or quantitative manner.
Conducts toxicological examinations of forensic postmortem cases. Completes toxicological analysis of body tissues and fluids.
Provides material information in court and responds to questions or inquiries related to testimony.
Performs required maintenance on analytical instrumentation and routine laboratory equipment.
Enters collected data and information into laboratory information management systems.
Core Competencies
Knowledge of the principles of analytical chemistry; and knowledge of laboratory practice.
Knowledge of the principles of equipment and instrument calibration and maintenance.

Degree Required: Bachelor's degree in toxicology from an accredited college or university; or an appropriate discipline of the biological, medical, or veterinary sciences.

Job Summary
Under general supervision, performs assignments that involve moderately complex analysis of biological specimens to detect drug or alcohol content, and drug-facilitate-sexual-assault cases. Applies experiences and technical understanding of forensic science.

Performs complete and definitive toxicological analysis of body tissues and fluids.
Conducts toxicological examinations on forensic postmortem cases. Evaluates collected data for the purpose of statistical reporting.
Engages in measuring non-routine and routine compounds in a qualitative or quantitative manner.
Provides factual in-depth information in court and responds to questions or inquiries related to testimony.
Performs required maintenance on analytical instrumentation and routine laboratory equipment.
Evaluates collected data for the purpose of statistical reporting; and prepares statistical information.
Enters collected data and information into laboratory information management systems.

Job Summary
Under limited supervision, performs complex to advanced analyses in biological specimens in order to determine cause and manner of death or physiological impairment. The work is complex in nature, and assignments involve qualitative and quantitative analysis of biological specimens; developing methods to improve evaluation of specimens for substance abuse; and providing guidance to other Forensic Toxicologists. Applies extensive knowledge to assigned job duties and respond to complex issues and concerns.
Major Duties and Responsibilities
Performs specialized analyses of biological speciment. Conducts specialized testing of new or unique drugs and other substances.
Labels, observes, documents, and preserves biological evidence using established procedures.
Engages in measuring novel or non-routine compounds in a qualitative and/or quantitative manner.
Designs and improves evidence handling procedures and forms. Designs, develops and improves methods that comply with laboratory operating procedures.
Conducts toxicological analysis of body tissues and fluids; and completes toxicological examinations on forensic postmortem cases.
Responds to questions or inquiries related to testimony, providing interpretation of findings and factual in-depth information in court.
Coordinates and performs equipment maintenance and evidence disposal; and monitors inventory.
Provides guidance to other Forensic Toxicologists on a routine basis.
