Job Summary 

The supervisor instructs the employee on the assignment and its scope, limitations, deadlines and priorities. Performs highly structured entry work designed to develop broader and more in-depth knowledge and skill needed to perform higher level assignments.  The work consists of easily distinguishable tasks involving related steps processes, methods, and procedures.  Information technology (IT) assignments include computers, network components, peripheral equipment, software, firmware, services and related resources.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Performs routine and recurring IT assignments.

Provides information and assistance to customers.

Evaluates anticipated changes in information requirements.

Gathers and analyzes basic facts and draws conclusions.

Communicates factual and procedural information clearly, orally and in writing.

Ensures the application of appropriate security measures to the assignment.

Job Summary 

Under general supervision, performs a limited range of activities involved with monitoring, maintaining, and supporting installed systems and services.   Works independently, but within the framework the supervisor established and in conformance with established practices and prescribed procedures. IT assignments involve developing and supporting information technology (IT) systems and services.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Applies and adapts new and improved approaches to the design, development, and implementation of data storage and retrieval systems.  

Identifies and resolves issues and problems; and analyzes evaluates facts and draws conclusions.

Prepares recommendations for changes in methods and practices, where appropriate.

Ensures the application of appropriate security measures to the assignment.

Participates in the development of IT goals, objectives, plans and policies.

Job Summary 

The supervisor outlines overall objectives and available resources. Work consists of various duties that involve applying a series of different and unrelated processes and methods pertinent to the information technology (IT) field.  IT refers to systems and services used in the automated acquisition, storage, manipulation, management, movement, control, display, switching, interchange, transmission, assurance or reception of information.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Determines the most appropriate principle, practices and methods to apply in the phases of assignments.  

Troubleshoots, diagnoses, resolves, and documents technical service requests.  

Identifies and defines business or technical requirements applied to the design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems.

Solves technical problems and investigates elevated issues, and seeks solutions related to more complex issues.

Identifies and analyzes important factors and conditions in order to recognize and apply an understanding of interrelationship among different IT functions and activities.

The employee is a technical expert, who independently plans, designs, and carries out the work to be done; and makes decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs.  Work consists of a variety of duties that involve many different and unrelated processes and methods pertinent to the IT field.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Provides expert technical advice, guidance, and recommendation to management and other technical employees on critical/complex IT issues.

Makes decisions or recommendations that significantly influence important agency IT policies or programs.

Identifies and defines business on technical requirements applied to the design, development, implementation, management, and support of systems and networks.

Communicates complex technical requirements to non-technical personnel.

Ensures the integration of IT programs and services. Ensures that system hardware, operating systems, and software systems are fully operational.

Creates, analyzes, reports, converts, or transfers data, using specialized applications or web-based platforms.

Performs technical research and development to enable continuing innovation within the agency. Applies new developments to previously unsolvable problems.

Job Summary 

Assignments are in term of broadly defined missions or functions of the organization.  Review of work is in terms of feasibility, or effectiveness in meeting requirements or achieving expected results.  Work involves planning, directing, or coordinating activities in such fields as, systems analysis, electronic data processing, information systems, computer programming, etc.

Supervises a team of employees responsible for providing computer and information technology (IT) functional support to the organization.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Oversees general issues; troubleshoot problems as they arise; and offers technical support to the organization and teams.

Identifies the technology goals for the organization. Ensures that the organization’s computer and network systems are effective, reliable and safe.

Researches and implements ways of technology and network-based systems can increase organization and productivity.

Identifies software needs and work to fill those gaps, in addition to implementing patches and upgrades, as necessary.

Supervises and assigns work to subordinate staff based on priorities.

Job Summary

Responsibilities involve managing and ensuring the accountability for the design, engineering, installation, maintenance, monitoring, and performance of information technology (IT) systems and electronic devices; and making decisions about installation, maintenance and upgrading on the electronic devices used in the workplace. 

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Manages and implements computer and IT systems, ensuring that the organization’s computer and network systems are effective, reliable and safe.

Manages the work of IT personnel, assuming responsibility for the supervision of numerous direct and indirect employees and contracted personnel.

Manages and monitors the budget expenditures, recommending reallocation of funds to meet IT needs.

Responsible for researching and developing ways that technology and network-based systems can increase organization and productivity.

Performs and direct project management of large technological construction and installation projects.
