Job Summary 

Under general supervision, provides vocational rehabilitation services to clients with disabilities in meeting problems of personal, social, and vocational adjustment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Plans and coordinates for rehabilitation services; approves expenditures within specified limits for planned rehabilitation services.   

Evaluates information and its relationship to client's current and potential medical and vocational status.

Informs client of the terms and conditions for the provisions of vocational rehabilitation services.

Works with client in securing employment, which is suited to his/her capabilities, interests, strengths, and informed choice.

Core Competencies  

Knowledge of the federal and District laws, rules and regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures governing the administration of the vocational rehabilitation program in order to provide appropriate services within the scope of these statutory provisions.

Knowledge of service providing agencies in the community in order to refer clients for comparable services not available within the Administration.

Knowledge of work requirements and needs of specific employers employment trends, salaries, and for assisting their clients to achieve a successful employment outcome.

Licenses, Certifications, and Other Requirements  

None.

Basic Qualifications   

Degree Required: None.

Work Experience: Specialized work experience directly related to the position.

Job Summary 

Under general supervision, provides vocational rehabilitation services to clients with disabilities by conducting comprehensive assessments to determine eligibility for employment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Conducts comprehensive assessments to develop individualized plans for employment for assigned cases.

Interviews client referrals, applicants and clients to obtain information on vocational, social, educational, and medical and psychological history.

Determines the existence and extent of suspected disabling condition as well as expectations of the client’s achievement of a successful employment outcome.

Works with client in securing suitable employment and makes pre-referral contact with the prospective employers.

Core Competencies  

Knowledge of federal and district law, rules and regulations, guidelines, policies and procedures governing the administration of the vocational rehabilitation program in order to provide appropriate services within the scope of these statutory provisions.

Knowledge of theories, methods, principles, practices and techniques of counseling to assist persons with disabilities in adjusting to their disabilities and pursuing a successful employment outcome.

Knowledge of service providing agencies in the community in order to refer clients for comparable services not available within the agency.

Job Summary 

Under general supervision, provides vocational rehabilitation services to clients with disabilities by conducting comprehensive assessments to determine eligibility, and coordinating counseling to assist with securing employment.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

Coordinates and participates in counseling, job placement and job development services, assures satisfactory adjustment to employment, and plans training programs to enhance job readiness.

Conducts comprehensive assessments to develop individualized plans for employment. Provides case management services to individuals with disabilities to prepare them for the workforce.

Determines the functional limitations as it relates to the disability and its impact on the client’s employability.

Prepares monthly reports on job development activities and services provided.

Core Competencies  

Knowledge of theories, methods, principles and practices of vocational rehabilitation, counseling, evaluation and testing theories; and medical and psychosocial aspects of disabilities.

Knowledge of the social and behavioral implications of ethnic diversity in a community, and the Americans with Disabilities Act with particular emphasis on the employment and reasonable accommodations provisions.

Skill in the use of vocational rehabilitation counseling techniques and strategies; technical aspects of rehabilitation program service delivery.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing to diverse groups of people in order to provide advice, plan and carry out the vocational rehabilitation process.
